2 Samuel 11; Psalm 51

I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. – The Apostle Paul

The Christian life is a lot like running a long foot race, a grueling marathon. Trusting God while trudging life’s hills and valleys can be tough at times. Especially when we take a tumble along the way, which happens to all of us at one time or another. The real question is not whether we trip and fall but how we respond when we do. How we answer the questions that come when we collapse on life’s course will determine how we finish the race.

Am I disqualified from the race? Does God still love me? Can he ever use me after what happened? Can I regain my winning stride? Will I ever enjoy running again?

King David fell in spectacular fashion, but eventually he got back up and reentered the race. He serves as a role model for how to respond to failure. Read his story of failure and redemption in 2 Samuel 11 and 12.
